Despite the popularity of Chrome and Safari, there are still some websites reqiure Internet Explorer(IE). So you may need to open some IE only websites with your Mac.

Here are two ways to open those IE only websites on your Mac.

Approach 1: Safari Develop Option

  • Open Safari on the Mac
  • Go to the “Safari” menu and choose “Preferences” and then go to the “Advanced” tab and check the box for “Show Develop menu in menu bar” then close out of Preferences
  • Now pull down the Develop menu and go to “User Agent” and select one of the following versions of Internet Explorer to mimic:
    • Internet Explorer 11
    • Internet Explorer 10
    • Internet Explorer 9
    • Internet Explorer 8
    • Internet Explorer 7
    • Microsoft Edge

On the latest MacOS(MacOS Catalina), Mac has removed previous IE options:

Set User Agent for Safari

We need to specify User Agent for IE by ourselves. We can choose Other option here.

IE Tab is a chrome extension that enble you to open IE only websites on chrome, including chrome on Mac.

After installation, you can open IE only websites on your chrome by clicking this ‘e‘ button:
